BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi’s EVM Doubts, Calls Remarks Disrespectful to Indian Voters

Mumbai, 18th March 2024: In the ongoing exchange between the BJP and Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP leader Nalin Kohli criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for casting doubt on the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Kohli rebuked Gandhi’s remarks, seeing them as disrespectful to Indian voters.

Addressing Gandhi’s comments, Kohli emphasized that such allegations undermine the faith of Indian citizens in the electoral process. He highlighted the pivotal role of voters in shaping the nation’s future, expressing confidence in their continued support for Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Kohli reiterated Modi’s commitment to national development by 2047.

Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s concerns raised in Maharashtra, where he emphasized the struggle against the state’s authority using the term ‘Shakti’ (might), Kohli criticized the insinuation that EVM integrity had been compromised. He suggested that the Congress’s discontent stems from their electoral setbacks rather than any flaws in the electoral system.

Responding to Gandhi’s ‘Shakti’ reference, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned it as misogynistic and reflective of Congress’s anti-Hindu sentiments. Poonawalla accused Gandhi of disrespecting Hindu beliefs and undermining women’s empowerment. He portrayed Gandhi’s statement as a desperate attempt to discredit the government, particularly in the eyes of Hindu voters.
