PM Modi Criticizes Congress-DMK Alliance for Alleged Insults to Hinduism in Salem Rally

Salem, 19th March 2024: In Salem, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Rahul Gandhi’s recent remark on ‘Shakti’, criticizing the Congress-DMK alliance within the INDIA bloc for what he perceives as their tendency to denigrate Hinduism while remaining silent on other religions. Speaking at a rally in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi accused the alliance of deliberately insulting Hindu Dharma, emphasizing that their statements against Hinduism are carefully calculated.

PM Modi asserted that the alliance’s rhetoric suggests a desire to dismantle revered aspects of Hindu culture, such as Shakti, which symbolizes feminine and maternal power in Hinduism. He highlighted the significance of deities like Mariamman, Kanchi Kamakshi, and Madurai Meenakshi in Tamil Nadu, insinuating that the alliance threatens these sources of spiritual strength.

Furthermore, PM Modi alleged that the DMK and Congress, both integral parts of the alliance, represent corruption and dynastic rule, contrasting their governance with the progress achieved under non-Congress administrations. He accused the DMK of disrespecting the late former CM Jayalalithaa and criticized their treatment of women in politics.

Rahul Gandhi’s earlier remarks at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park were cited, where he associated ‘Shakti’ with the might of the state and raised concerns about the integrity of electoral processes. The BJP interpreted Gandhi’s words as evidence of a misogynistic mindset, while Gandhi himself accused PM Modi of distorting his statement and affirmed the truth behind his words.
