VB-G RAM G Scheme: Centre Introduces 15-Day Complaint Resolution Deadline To Curb Corruption; Sets Up Three-Tier Grievance System

New Delhi, 2nd November 2026: The Centre has notified new grievance redressal rules under the Viksit Bharat- Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025, mandating that complaints related to the rural employment scheme be resolved within 15 days of receipt. The new framework also introduces a three-tier grievance redressal mechanism to improve accountability and address complaints related to the implementation of the scheme.

The Ministry of Rural Development has directed state governments to establish grievance redressal systems at the Gram Panchayat, block and district levels. Designated officers at each level will be responsible for receiving, registering, investigating and disposing of complaints.

Under the new rules, grievances can be submitted in person, through speed post, designated digital platforms, telephone helplines or any other mode specified by state governments. Authorities cannot refuse to register a complaint based on its format, language, mode of submission or procedural deficiencies.

Complaints received physically at the Gram Panchayat, block or district level must be registered on the designated digital platform on the same day. If this is not possible, the registration must be completed by the next working day.

Once registered, complainants will receive an acknowledgement containing a registration number, the date of receipt and details of the authority handling the complaint.

The rules further mandate that enquiries into complaints must be completed within seven working days, while the grievance itself must be resolved within 15 days from its receipt.

Designated grievance redressal officers can seek relevant records, documents, reports and electronic data from concerned authorities during the investigation. Complainants may also be allowed to present their case, either in person or electronically, wherever necessary.

Complaints that remain unresolved beyond the 15-day deadline will be escalated to the next higher level through the state grievance redressal mechanism. Such cases will continue to be monitored digitally until they are disposed of. The findings of the enquiry and action taken will also be recorded on the designated digital platform and communicated to the complainant.

The rules also provide for appeals against orders passed under the grievance redressal mechanism, in accordance with Schedule I of the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025.

Through the new provisions, the Centre aims to establish a time-bound and transparent system for addressing complaints and strengthening administrative accountability in the implementation of the rural employment scheme.
