Where Will Pune Passengers Raise Their Railway Issues? CAG Flags DRUCC Meeting Gap
Reported By Amit Singh
Pune, 17th August 2026: Pune Division of Central Railway had a shortfall of one scheduled meeting of the Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) during 2023-24, according to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India’s Report No. 31 of 2026.
The CAG report, which examined passenger amenities, sanitation and monitoring mechanisms across Indian Railways, recorded the shortfall while reviewing the functioning of DRUCCs across railway divisions.
DRUCC meetings provide a formal platform for passenger representatives and railway authorities to discuss issues related to railway services and passenger facilities. Through these meetings, representatives can raise local concerns and place demands relating to station amenities, train services, passenger convenience and safety.
The committee provides an interface between railway users and divisional railway authorities, allowing issues raised by passengers and local stakeholders to be discussed with officials.
For Central Railway, the report recorded a shortfall of one DRUCC meeting in 2022-23 involving the Bhusawal, Solapur and Nagpur divisions. In 2023-24, the shortfall involved the Bhusawal, Solapur and Pune divisions.
DRUCCs form part of the Railway Board’s passenger consultation and monitoring mechanism. The CAG examined the functioning of these committees along with other mechanisms, including Service Improvement Groups and passenger grievance systems, as part of its assessment of passenger amenities and sanitation at railway stations.
