AAP Alleges BJP Involvement in Delhi Liquor Scam; Sanjay Singh Claims Conspiracy Against Kejriwal

New Delhi, 5th April 2024: Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stirred controversy today by alleging the involvement of BJP leaders in the Delhi liquor scam during a press conference. Singh claimed that several prominent BJP figures were implicated in the scandal.

Singh asserted that the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was part of a larger conspiracy. He alleged that individuals accused in the liquor scam initially did not implicate Kejriwal until pressured by authorities. Singh claimed that once Kejriwal’s name was mentioned, it was readily accepted, leading to his arrest.

“In his initial statements, BJP leader Magunta Reddy and his son Raghava Magunta did not mention Kejriwal’s involvement. However, in subsequent statements, Kejriwal’s name mysteriously surfaced,” Singh stated. He further accused the BJP of manipulating the situation to frame Kejriwal.

Singh detailed the circumstances surrounding the allegations, mentioning that one accused, Sharat Reddy, initially denied any association with Kejriwal. However, after spending six months in jail, Reddy allegedly changed his stance and incriminated Kejriwal.

According to Singh, despite being labelled a scamster by the BJP, Reddy purportedly transferred Rs 55 crore to the party. Singh highlighted that on March 21, evidence emerged linking the liquor scam to the BJP, yet Kejriwal was arrested instead.

“Kejriwal is absolutely spotless. He is being punished for his good deeds,” Singh declared, criticizing BJP’s approach to governance. He accused the central government of authoritarian tendencies, citing the imprisonment of Delhi and Jharkhand Chief Ministers as evidence.

Following his release from Tihar Jail, Sanjay Singh visited the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. Speaking to reporters, he condemned what he perceived as a growing threat to democracy and urged citizens to resist such encroachments on freedom and constitutional rights.
