Relief to the Troubled Shiv Sena! Rebellion likely to Stop, 16 MLAs Will Stay Together

Mumbai, 4th July 2022: The battle for power in Maharashtra is in its final stages. The floor test can be done on Monday. After the election of the speaker held on Sunday, the situation seems to be clear as to which MLA is with whom.

Experts believe that now the era of rebellion in Shiv Sena is over and the party is standing with 16 MLAs. Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party, and Congress, which are involved in Maha Vikas Aghadi, have issued separate whips to their MLAs.

Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction, NCP and Congress have instructed their members not to vote in support of the trust vote. At the same time, there is news that BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) may issue a whip on Monday. The special thing is that on Sunday, Shiv Sena issued whips to all its 55 MLAs for the election of the Speaker. In this, the Shinde faction voted for the BJP candidate. Whereas, 16 MLAs of the Uddhav faction voted for their candidate Rajan Salvi.

In a conversation with the media, a political expert said, “For now it seems that the rebellion has stopped and 16 MLAs of Shiv Sena are with the Uddhav faction. There is very little chance that more MLAs of the Uddhav camp will change sides. But we will know this only after the trust vote on Monday. Many legislators believe that the ongoing whip for a trust vote is more important than the election of the speaker. Those who are still in the Uddhav camp are loyal and are unlikely to change.”

Who has whose support

Shinde, who rebelled in Shiv Sena, has the support of 39 MLAs of the party besides 9 more independent MLAs of the smaller party. Whereas, the Uddhav faction has the support of 16 MLAs, including son Aditya Thackeray. It is expected that no more Shiv Sena MLAs will change their side, but the situation will be clear on Monday only.

Narvekar’s election statistics

Narvekar, who was elected as the speaker, got 164 votes. These include 104 MLAs from BJP, 39 of the Shinde faction, 1 from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, and 2 from Bacchu Kadu’s Prahar Janshakti Party, 1 from Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, 3 from Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, and 1 from Jan Swarajya Shakti. Apart from this, he also got the support of 13 independent MLAs.

Action can be taken against Shiv Sena MLAs

The special thing is that Shiv Sena had issued a whip to its MLAs for the election of Speaker. In such a situation, action can be taken against the members going against it. Along with this, disqualification proceedings can also be taken against 16 MLAs who go against the whip of the Shinde faction.
