Delhi Protest: CRPF Identifies RAF Personnel Who Fired Pellet Gun During Sansad Chalo March

New Delhi, 27th July 2026: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has identified the Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel who fired seven rounds from a pellet gun during the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) ‘Sansad Chalo’ march in Delhi on July 20. The development comes days after videos from the protest sparked widespread debate over the alleged use of pellet guns during crowd-control measures.

According to officials, the jawan has been identified through the ongoing internal inquiry ordered by the CRPF. The investigation is examining whether the use of force followed the force’s standard operating procedures. Authorities have also collected video footage and statements from personnel who were deployed during the protest.

The march, organised by CJP over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak issue, witnessed clashes between protesters and security personnel near Parliament. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show an RAF jawan using a pellet gun during the confrontation, prompting the CRPF to launch a departmental probe.

Officials said the inquiry found that seven rounds were fired from the pellet gun by the identified RAF personnel. However, the investigation is still underway to determine whether the action was authorised and whether the deployment of the weapon was justified under the circumstances.

The CRPF has not yet announced any disciplinary action, stating that further decisions will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry. The force had earlier maintained that it would thoroughly verify the conduct of all personnel involved in the crowd-control operation before arriving at a conclusion.
