Delhi Hit And Run Case: AAP Workers Protest Near LG House, Demand Resignation Of Lieutenant Governor

Delhi, 2nd January 2023: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded the immediate sacking of Vinay Kumar Saxena from the post of Lieutenant Governor in connection with the death of a girl by dragging her in a car for several kilometres in Sultanpuri police station area of outer Delhi.

Aam Aadmi Party workers have gheraoed the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi over the Kanjhawala case. Meanwhile, AAP workers are demanding the resignation of LG VK Saxena from the post of Lieutenant Governor. Given this, the Delhi Police has increased the security of the LG office.

Outrage is being seen among the people regarding this painful incident in the Kanjhawala area. On Monday, a mob of angry people surrounded the local police station. The people gathered on the spot demanded that the accused should be given the strictest punishment. During this, an angry mob broke the glass of the car of the Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly and local MLA Rakhi Birlan, who reached Sultanpuri police station.

AAP said that Manoj Mittal, the fifth accused in this case, is a BJP leader. His hoarding is put up near Sultanpuri police station, the station where he is kept. AAP has alleged that hence there is a cover-up in the matter.

Apart from this, AAP has raised the question as to why the DCP and SHO of the area have not been suspended yet. The AAP said the eyewitness called 22 times to give information about the girl trapped in the car, but the police did not act.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal while inaugurating 50 electric buses at Rajghat sentenced all the accused to death in Sultanpuri after dragging a woman in a car for several kilometres. He further said, “I am deeply saddened by this incident, and we all have to make an effort that the culprits involved in this are hanged.”

He further said, “Spoke to LG on Kanjhawala incident. Requested him to take action against the culprit; strictest sections of IPC should be invoked against them. No leniency should be shown even though they have high political connections.”
