Militants Attack Army Base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda District, Injure Six Personnel

Jammu, 12th June 2024: In a recent escalation of hostilities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, militants conducted an assault on the Army’s Temporary Operating Base (TOB) today, causing injuries to five army personnel and one special police officer. During the ensuing confrontation, security forces successfully neutralized one of the militants.

The injured individuals were promptly transported to SDH Bhaderwah for medical treatment, as confirmed by an official source speaking to India Today. The Kashmir Tigers, a known terrorist outfit, has claimed responsibility for the attack on security personnel, exacerbating tensions in the area.

Addressing the series of violent incidents, ADGP Anand Jain emphasized the role of external elements in destabilizing the peace in the region, stating, “This Hiranagar terror attack appears to be a recent infiltration from across the border. While one terrorist has been eliminated, efforts to locate the others are ongoing.”

The assault in Doda marks the third terrorist strike within a span of three days in the Jammu region, following prior incidents in Reasi and Kathua. This latest occurrence closely follows an encounter where security forces thwarted an attempt by militants to target a residence in the Kathua district.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh provided insights into the recent spate of violence, detailing how militants fired upon a dwelling in Kathua’s Saida Sukhal village, located near the International Border (IB) in the Hiranagar sector.

Significantly, this surge in hostilities comes on the heels of a previous attack on June 9, when militants attacked a bus carrying pilgrims from the Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, resulting in casualties and injuries. Sources have connected this incident to the same group responsible for an attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch on May 4.
