Pune: Over 500 PMC Employees Pulled Up for Reporting Late; Show-Cause Notices Issued
Pune, 23rd August 2025: In a strict crackdown on tardiness, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday intercepted over 500 employees, including senior officers and Class IV staff, for reporting late to work. All of them have been served show-cause notices and asked to explain their delay.
PMC’s official working hours start at 9:45 a.m., but several staffers turned up after 10 a.m., with some arriving as late as noon. Acting on Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram’s directives, the General Administration Department recorded the names and arrival times of latecomers — including six department heads.
Commissioner Ram had earlier warned staff about punctuality and reiterated the message two weeks ago. With no visible improvement, formal action has now been initiated.
According to Deputy Commissioner (General Administration) Prasad Katkar, “Fixed duty timings apply to all employees. Those failing to comply — from department heads to staff — have been issued notices as per the Commissioner’s orders.”
PMC follows a five-day work week, with extended weekday hours, but officials said punctuality remains an issue. The administration has cautioned that repeat offenders could face disciplinary action if delays persist.
