Pune: Paud–Mangaon Highway Shut After Floodwaters Submerge Stretch Near Tamhini
Pune, 6th July 2026: Authorities have closed a stretch of the Pune–Mangaon national highway near Dongargaon in Mulshi taluka after overflowing water from a stream submerged the road following incessant rainfall over the past two days.
According to an order issued by the district administration, traffic on the Pune–Mangaon road (National Highway 753F) has been suspended from 9 pm on Sunday until further orders. The affected stretch is near Dongargaon Phata, beyond Tamhini Ghat, where floodwater from a nearby stream has been flowing over the carriageway, making it unsafe for vehicular movement.
The closure comes a day after a section of the same road near Dongargaon caved in after it was submerged. The highway connects Paud in Pune district with Mangaon in Raigad district and serves as a key route linking the Konkan region with western Maharashtra.
Officials said the decision to halt traffic was taken in the interest of public safety as the area has been receiving extremely heavy rainfall. Motorists have been advised to avoid the route and use alternative roads until the water recedes and the highway is declared safe for travel.
