Prime Minister Dedicates Railway Projects Worth Rs 1,400 Crore

New Delhi, 25th August 2025: Prime Minister on Monday dedicated multiple railway projects worth over ₹1,400 crore to the nation, including key infrastructure works in Gujarat.

The projects comprise the doubling of the 65 km Mahesana-Palanpur rail line at a cost of ₹530 crore, along with gauge conversion of the 37 km Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road line and the 40 km Bechraji-Ranuj line, together valued at over ₹860 crore.

According to Railways, the addition of broad-gauge capacity will improve connectivity across the region, enabling faster, safer and more efficient travel for commuters and industries.

Alongside the infrastructure upgrades, a passenger train service between Katosan Road and Sabarmati was flagged off. The new service will improve accessibility to religious destinations along the route and boost local mobility.

A car-loaded freight train service from Bechraji was also inaugurated. Officials said the service will enhance connectivity to industrial hubs in Gujarat, strengthen the logistics network, and support economic activity in surrounding regions.
