Northern Railway Runs Two Special Trains from Jammu for Stranded Passengers

Jammu, August 28, 2025: Northern Railway operated two special trains from Jammu on Thursday to aid stranded passengers and tourists after regular train services were suspended due to heavy rainfall in the region.

The first special train, 02238 Jammu–Banaras, departed Jammu at 15:45 hours carrying around 1,200–1,400 passengers. The second train, 04680 Jammu–New Delhi, left Jammu at 17:40 hours with about 1,200 passengers on board.

The special rakes were planned by the Jammu Division of Northern Railway in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the district administration. Railway officials, along with GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, assisted in ensuring smooth boarding and settlement of passengers inside the trains.

The arrangements were made after many passengers were left stranded in the Jammu region following the suspension of regular services in view of passenger safety concerns caused by heavy rainfall.
