Maharashtra: Count Of Votes For General Elections In Progress, Stronghold On Both Sides

Pune, 5th August 2022: Voting for the General Elections was held in 238 Gram Panchayats of 15 Maharashtra districts on 4th August, Thursday, following the government’s fall in the state. It was the first election to be held after the transfer of power. The election’s results will be announced on Friday, with the counting of votes already in progress. The initial trends for the Gram Panchayat elections show a big blow acquired by the BJP by Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray camp in two Gram Panchayats of Solapur District.

In Chinchpur Gram Panchayat of Solapur, all seven candidates of Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray’s camp have won. Meanwhile, Subhash Deshmukh of the BJP has suffered a major setback in Mangoli Gram Panchayat of South Solapur Taluka. The Subhash Deshmukh faction was in power in Mangoli Gram Panchayat for the last 15 years. However, this year only one of the six seats in Mangoli Gram Panchayat has been won by the candidate of the Subhash Deshmukh panel.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, 40 MLAs of Shiv Sena revolted and gave a blow to party chief Uddhav Thackeray. After this, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray went on a loyalty journey directly to their respective areas and challenged the rebel MLAs. Following Aditya’s visit, there was a discussion about the supremacy of the rebel MLAs and if it would be shaken. However, the results clearly show these rebels have been successful in keeping their stronghold safe.

Eknath Shinde’s group of MLA Sandipan Bhumre from Pathak taluka of Aurangabad has won 6 out of 7 Gram Panchayats. On the other hand, Shinde group MLA Abdul Sattar continues to dominate both Janjala and Nanegaon Gram Panchayats in Sillod Taluka.
