Jantar Mantar Violence Probe Handed to Delhi Police Special Cell; FIR Names AAP, SP and Bhim Army
New Delhi, 1st August 2026: The investigation into the violence that erupted during the Parliament March at Jantar Mantar has been transferred to the Delhi Police Special Cell after investigators found indications of a possible larger political conspiracy behind the incident. The FIR names the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bhim Army, alleging their involvement in orchestrating the unrest.
According to the Delhi Police, the violence was not merely a spontaneous reaction by protesting students but appeared to be a pre-planned operation involving political organisations. Based on the findings of the preliminary investigation, the case has now been handed over to the Special Cell, which typically investigates organised crime, terror-related offences and cases involving larger conspiracies.
The FIR alleges that members and supporters linked to the three organisations played a role in escalating the protest into violence. Investigators are examining evidence, including CCTV footage, digital records and other materials, to determine whether the disturbances were coordinated in advance. The Special Cell is expected to investigate the alleged planning, funding and communication behind the events.
The Parliament March had witnessed clashes between protesters and police personnel, resulting in injuries and damage to public property. Following the incident, multiple cases were registered and several individuals were detained as police began identifying those allegedly involved.
With the Special Cell now leading the investigation, Delhi Police are expected to further examine the alleged conspiracy angle and determine whether additional individuals or organisations were involved in planning or executing the violence. The investigation remains ongoing.
