Don’t Start The Language War… MK Stalin, Furious At The Center Over Hindi, Also Objected To ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’

Chennai, 10th October 2022: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has said that a language war will start if the central government tries to impose Hindi language by force. He also objected to the ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan.

Chief Minister MK Stalin has targeted the central government a day after being elected as the DMK president for the second time.
He has said that the government should not start another language war by imposing Hindi. He said this while reacting to the report submitted to the President by the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language headed by Home Minister Amit Shah.

Stalin said that the committee has proposed that Hindi be replaced by English as the medium of instruction in all central institutions. It is proposed to do the same in LLM, AIIMS, Central Universities and Kendriya Vidyalayas. He asked, “Are the people only speaking Hindi? The citizens of the country and the people speaking the rest of the languages are second class.” He said, “Continuous efforts are being made to impose Hindi which is against the Constitution.”

This is the second time MK Stalin has reacted on the matter of language. In a warning tone, MK Stalin said, “The Prime Minister Modi should ensure that he does not make Hindi compulsory and maintains the unity of the country. There are 22 languages in the Eighth List of the Constitution and Tamil is also there. Therefore all languages should be given equal importance.”

Stalin said, “We should try to make all languages as the official languages of the Centre. What is the need in such a situation that Hindu had to be proposed to be the official language of the country? Why was it proposed to give priority to Hindi in central examinations by replacing English? This is against the basic principle of the constitution. By doing this an attempt is being made to discriminate against other languages. After all, why only slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ are raised in Parliament?Since 1965, the DMK has been fighting against the imposition of Hindi and there are more people speaking other languages than Hindus in the country.”
