AAP Accuses BJP Leaders Of Manipulating Voter Registration Ahead Of Delhi Elections

New Delhi, 11th January 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday made serious allegations against the BJP’s senior leadership and Union ministers, accusing them of manipulating voter registration in Delhi ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

At a press conference, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed that BJP’s top figures were deceiving the Election Commission by registering fake votes from various addresses in the capital. “Union ministers, BJP MPs, and leaders are undermining the Election Commission by manipulating the system, committing electoral fraud. BJP’s candidate for New Delhi, Pravesh Verma, who is a former MP, has been residing in the MP’s bungalow since May despite no longer holding the position,” Singh stated. “He has applied for 33 votes to be registered at the bungalow address. Additionally, Union Ministers Pankaj Chaudhary and Kamlesh Paswan have applied for 26 votes each to be registered at their addresses,” he added.

These claims followed BJP President Virendra Sachdeva’s accusation that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal was attempting to register votes from addresses of party workers in certain constituencies. Sachdeva said that these votes belonged to individuals who do not live in Delhi but would turn up on election day to cast their votes.

Voter registration issues have become a significant point of contention in the lead-up to the February 5 elections, with both parties accusing each other of manipulating voter lists. Vote counting will take place on February 8.
