Congress Alleges Microphone Shutdown During Rahul Gandhi’s NEET Debate in Lok Sabha
New Delhi, 28th June 2024: The Congress alleged that during a session in the Lok Sabha, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s microphone was turned off while he raised concerns about the alleged NEET paper leak.
In a video shared on X, Rahul Gandhi is seen requesting Speaker Om Birla for microphone access to debate the NEET controversy and demanding a government statement.
Responding to this, Speaker Om Birla clarified that he does not control MPs’ microphones and stated that discussions should focus on the President’s address, with other topics not being recorded in the House.
The Congress criticized the incident, accusing it of attempting to silence youth voices by allegedly turning off Rahul Gandhi’s microphone, contrasting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on NEET with Gandhi’s advocacy for students.
Meanwhile, the NEET-UG 2024 exam, marred by allegations of a question paper leak, has sparked nationwide student protests.
Amidst the chaos in the Lok Sabha, Congress MP KC Venugopal submitted an adjournment motion to discuss the alleged paper leaks, but the Speaker decided to prioritize discussions on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address.
pic.twitter.com/Ar49yUhSUa

Following the disruption, the Speaker adjourned the House until July 1.
Government sources dismissed the adjournment motion during the Motion of Thanks tradition, labeling it an unnecessary demand while asserting readiness to address the NEET issue.
