‘Unbreakable’ Documentary by YouTuber Dhruv Rathee on AAP Sparks Political Debate Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections
New Delhi, 21st January 2025: The documentary Unbreakable, described by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as showcasing its “unyielding struggle,” was released online by popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee on Sunday.
The 30-minute film, titled “Watch This Before It Gets Banned! | UNBREAKABLE Documentary” on Rathee’s YouTube channel, garnered an impressive 5.5 million views within 18 hours of its release.
The documentary features insights from key AAP leaders, including party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, and senior members Saurabh Bhardwaj and Sanjay Singh. It highlights the arrests of AAP leaders in corruption cases over the past two years, portraying them as politically motivated.
AAP accused the Delhi Police of preventing the party from hosting a public screening of the documentary, citing the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the February 5th Assembly elections. According to the police, the party had not obtained the required permissions for the planned screening at Pyarelal Bhawan near ITO.
In response, Rathee took matters into his own hands, opting to release the film online for the public to access.
Following its release, Kejriwal expressed gratitude to Rathee on X, calling the film “deeply emotional.” He wrote, “This is the story of our two-year-long struggle. No other political party in India has faced such conspiracies and attacks from the system. Tough times reveal our true strength. AAP is ‘Unbreakable.’ Thank you, Dhruv, for showing courage in bringing this documentary to light when everything was being done to suppress it.”
AAP leader Manish Sisodia also shared the video, commenting, “The walls of prison taught us how to fight dictators, even in a free India.”
Reactions on X were swift and divided. Supporters lauded Rathee for his bold decision, while critics questioned his motives.
One user posted, “The BJP blocked the screening of AAP’s documentary, so the makers approached Dhruv Rathee. He refused to let this injustice go unchallenged and uploaded it on his channel. Result: 4 million views in under 15 hours. Fearless!”
Others criticized Rathee’s involvement. “Why did @dhruv_rathee agree to use his platform for this propaganda?” asked one user, while another remarked, “Taking money from Kejriwal to promote AAP is not the issue. Claiming to be neutral while doing so is.”
The release of Unbreakable has sparked a heated political debate ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. AAP supporters celebrate it as an act of truth-telling, while opponents dismiss it as a calculated election campaign strategy.
