Hinjawadi IT Park to Get Dedicated Authority, Metro by December: CM Fadnavis Announces Major Infrastructure Push
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 10th July 2025: In a landmark step aimed at resolving long-standing infrastructure challenges in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the creation of a “Single Point Authority” to coordinate civic and traffic-related issues across government departments. He also confirmed that metro services to Hinjawadi will commence by December 2025.
The announcement followed a high-level meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, senior bureaucrats, and representatives from various IT and residential bodies. The meeting was facilitated by BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, who has been actively pushing for reforms in the area. Participants at the meeting included stakeholders from the IT Forum, Society Federation, Forum of IT Employees, Baner-Balewadi Residents Association, and activists from the #UnclogHinjewadiITPark campaign.
A Unified Authority to Tackle IT Park Woes
The move to form a central coordinating body comes in response to mounting grievances from citizens and IT professionals working in Hinjawadi. The area, home to over five lakh daily commuters, has been plagued by unregulated development, traffic congestion, crumbling roads, and inadequate infrastructure planning.
Calling the meeting a “first of its kind” for Hinjawadi, MLA Mahesh Landge expressed confidence that the decisions taken would finally bring about long-awaited improvements. “We now have a clear roadmap and the political will to implement it,” he said.
Fadnavis also committed to seeking assistance from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for better National Highway connectivity, promising to personally monitor progress on all fronts to ensure results are delivered swiftly.
Action Plan and CM’s Direct Oversight
During the meeting, CM Fadnavis issued several key directives to ensure faster implementation:
Formation of a Single Point Authority to improve inter-departmental coordination.
Faster land acquisition for major Development Plan (DP) roads in the area.
Speeding up road-widening and underpass work at Punawale, Tathawade, and Bhumkar Chowk.
Construction of a six-lane bridge at Laxmi Chowk to ease traffic.
Development of parking infrastructure near metro stations.
Use of smart traffic management technologies to reduce congestion.
