Anurag Thakur Criticizes Kejriwal, Predicts AAP’s Defeat in Upcoming Delhi Elections

New Delhi, 25th January 2025: On Friday, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anurag Thakur launched a strong critique against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal ahead of Delhi’s upcoming elections. Thakur claimed that Kejriwal was headed for a significant defeat and accused AAP of failing to address key issues like pollution, water quality, and the Yamuna River.

Thakur further accused AAP of neglecting vital concerns, including clean drinking water, pollution control, and road maintenance. He stated, “Arvind Kejriwal is going to be ‘stumped’ and ‘clean bowled’ as the people of Delhi demand clean water, air, and roads. This is why AAP and Kejriwal will be wiped out from Delhi.”

The BJP leader also labelled AAP as an “anti-women” party, referencing an incident involving party MP Swati Maliwal, who he claimed was summoned to Kejriwal’s residence and allegedly assaulted. Thakur criticized AAP for mistreating women, suggesting that their actions toward women in Delhi were disrespectful.

Thakur also slammed Kejriwal for failing to keep his promises to women in Delhi and Punjab, specifically the unfulfilled pledge of Rs 1,000 for women in these states. He also highlighted the challenges women faced during Chhath Puja, particularly the pollution in the Yamuna River where they had to perform rituals.

Thakur questioned the security arrangements for Kejriwal, noting the inconsistency of providing Z+ security to the Delhi Chief Minister in Punjab, despite him holding no official role there.

In response, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi dismissed Thakur’s accusations, claiming that a conspiracy was underway to harm Kejriwal. She accused BJP workers of attacking Kejriwal during a campaign rally and suggested the Delhi Police, under BJP influence, had failed to take action. Atishi added that AAP had conducted an internal investigation and identified many of the attackers as BJP workers.

Atishi also pointed out the recent withdrawal of Kejriwal’s security by the Punjab Police following intervention by the Election Commission, with the Delhi Police now following suit, further intensifying the political tensions.

With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching on February 5, and results set to be announced on February 8, the political atmosphere remains charged. AAP is striving for a repeat of its success in the 2015 and 2020 polls, where it secured a decisive victory.
