New Delhi, 3rd April 2024: Rajya Sabha member from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Sanjay Singh, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday in connection with the money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam. However, his release comes with several conditions imposed by the court.
According to the latest reports, the Court has mandated that AAP MP Sanjay Singh surrender his passport. He was granted bail on a surety bond of Rs 2 lakh, which was furnished by his wife. Additionally, he is prohibited from leaving the country and must not tamper with any evidence related to the case.
The court has also instructed the investigating officer of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to provide their mobile number to Sanjay Singh. Furthermore, Singh is required to inform authorities about any plans to leave the Delhi-NCR region and must cooperate fully with the ED’s investigation. However, there is no ban on his participation in political activities.
After his release, Sanjay Singh was admitted to the hospital, with his family members expressing relief regarding his health condition. Anita Singh, his wife, expressed gratitude to the judiciary for granting bail to her husband. She refrained from celebrating, stating that her joy would be complete only when all other incarcerated AAP leaders were released.
Anita Singh expressed hope for the prompt release of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other party members. The Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Sanjay Singh came after the ED did not oppose his bail plea, indicating a positive turn of events for the AAP leader.
