“We Are Hooligans? Then We’ll Continue Being Hooligans”: Uddhav Thackeray’s Retort to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai, 5th July 2025: Uddhav Thackeray hit back at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ recent remarks about “hooliganism,” saying that if demanding justice in Maharashtra is considered hooliganism, then yes, they are hooligans. Uddhav was addressing the Marathi Vijayi Melava rally in Worli, jointly held by his Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). In his speech, Uddhav directly targeted the BJP government and Chief Minister Fadnavis.
Uddhav Thackeray said, “Devendra Fadnavis claimed that hooliganism in the name of language won’t be tolerated. But if raising our voices to demand justice in Maharashtra is called hooliganism, then yes, we are hooligans! And if we don’t get justice until we resort to hooliganism, then we will continue doing it!”
He added, “Raj Thackeray gave a powerful speech. Everyone was watching today’s gathering closely. But more important than the speeches was the fact that we stood together on one stage. Whatever differences existed between us were resolved, thanks to Anaji Pant.”
He ended his remarks with a direct jab at Fadnavis, reinforcing the united Marathi front.
