Moscow, 9th July 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian community in Russia amid enthusiastic chants of ‘Modi-Modi’. Beginning his speech with a warm greeting as ‘Priya Moscow’, the audience greeted PM Modi with applause.
“In the last decade, the world has been amazed at the pace of development India has achieved,” PM Modi stated, emphasizing his commitment to accelerate efforts in his third term with triple the vigour.
“Today, India sets and achieves ambitious goals. The nation successfully sent Chandrayaan to uncharted lunar territory, leads in digital transactions worldwide, and boasts the third largest startup ecosystem globally,” he added. “From hundreds to lakhs, India has seen a remarkable growth in startups since 2014, alongside a surge in patents and research publications.”
“India’s transformation is driven by the strength of its 1.4 billion citizens and its global diaspora,” he affirmed.
PM Modi’s visit to Moscow, at the invitation of Russian President Putin for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit, included a ceremonial welcome at Vnukovo-II Airport by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.
Over the past decade, PM Modi and President Putin have met 16 times, with their last in-person meeting occurring at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in 2022.
