Maratha Reservation Rally Organizer Faces Legal Action: Case Registered Against Manoj Jarange Patil and Coordinators in Pune
Pune, 10th March 2024: A case has been registered against Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil, along with organizers and coordinators of a meeting held in the Wagholi area of Pune during the early hours of the morning when prohibition orders were in force for public places. The complaint was filed by Police Constable Ritesh Dilip Kale, leading to the registration of a case against Jarange Patil, coordinator and organizer Ganesh Mhaske, Sandeep Kambilkar, Shekhar Patil, and eight to ten others.
According to the police, Manoj Jarange Patil, accompanied by thousands of supporters from Antarwali Sarati (Jalna district), was heading towards Mumbai for a Maratha reservation cause. They stayed at the Chokhi Dhani ground in the Wagholi area on the night of January 23, where the main meeting was organized.
Although the Maratha coordinators and organizers from Wagholi had applied for permission from the Lonikand police station, curfew orders were in place in public places within the limits of the Pune Police Commissioner’s office. The police had prohibited the use of loudspeakers and the holding of meetings during the early morning hours. However, Jarange Patil went ahead with the meeting in Wagholi on January 24 at 4 am.
The police registered a case against the organizers for violating the law by using loudspeakers and holding meetings without permission during the prohibited hours, according to the order of the Supreme Court, which restricts the use of loudspeakers from 10 pm to 6 am.
