From Fifth To Third: PM Modi’s Pledge To Elevate India’s Global Economic Ranking
New Delhi, 27 July 2023: With less than a year remaining for the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed strong confidence in his government’s return to power in 2024. He made a significant push to elevate India to the position of the world’s third-largest economy.
Presenting the blueprint for his government’s third term, the Prime Minister assured the people that their aspirations would be realized. Currently ranked fifth in the world behind the US, China, Germany, and Japan, India aspires to move up the ladder during his upcoming tenure.
Inaugurating the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, now known as “Bharat Mandapam,” PM Modi shared some key quotes from his speech:
1. Emphasizing the economic growth, the Prime Minister declared that India had climbed from the tenth spot to the fifth largest economy during his first and second terms respectively. He guaranteed that during his third term, India would become the world’s third-largest economy.
2. PM Modi assured citizens that the pace of growth would accelerate after 2024, promising to turn their dreams into reality.
3. Criticizing those with negative thinking who attempt to hinder development projects, including the convention centre, the PM compared them to a group of people who had initially rejected the grand Kartvya Path but later came to appreciate it.
4. Acknowledging India’s monumental achievements in various sectors such as new airports, expressways, railway routes, bridges, and hospitals, the Prime Minister described the scale of these endeavours as “truly unprecedented.”
5. PM Modi announced that Delhi would soon house the world’s largest museum, showcasing India’s commitment to cultural preservation.
6. Citing a NITI Aayog report, the Prime Minister expressed his belief that India could effectively eradicate poverty, as 13.5 crore impoverished individuals had been lifted out of it.
7. PM Modi highlighted India’s rapid progress, driven by the principles of “Think Big, Dream Big, Act Big.”
8. Describing ‘Bharat Mandapam’ as a beautiful gift to democracy, the Prime Minister saw it as a symbol of India’s potential and renewed vigour.
9. PM Modi proudly stated that his government had expanded the G20 Summit to include meetings in 50 cities, showcasing the country’s diverse cultures.
