Dibrugarh–Lucknow Amrit Bharat Express to Strengthen Rail Connectivity Between North-East and North India

Lucknow, 16th January 2026: The Dibrugarh–Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) Amrit Bharat Express will provide a new long-distance rail link connecting the North-Eastern region with Uttar Pradesh, linking Assam and Nagaland with major cities and districts across eastern and northern India.

The weekly service will originate from Dibrugarh in Assam and pass through Dimapur in Nagaland. As per the schedule, the Dibrugarh–Gomti Nagar Amrit Bharat Express will depart Dibrugarh at 9:00 pm on Fridays and arrive at Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, at 1:30 pm on Sundays. The return service will depart Gomti Nagar at 6:40 pm on Sundays and reach Dibrugarh at 12:40 pm on Tuesdays.

The train will serve multiple districts across five states. In Nagaland, it will cover Dimapur. In Assam, it will pass through Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon, Kamrup Metropolitan, Kamrup, Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar. The route will also include Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri in West Bengal; Kishanganj, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Begusarai, Vaishali, Saran and Siwan in Bihar; and Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Gonda, Ayodhya, Barabanki and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

Along its alignment, the train passes near several prominent tourist and pilgrimage destinations. These include Kaziranga National Park in Assam, Kamakhya Temple near Guwahati, the Vikramshila Mahavihara site in Bihar, Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi, and Lucknow, known for its historical and cultural landmarks.

The introduction of the Dibrugarh–Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) Amrit Bharat Express adds a new rail corridor linking border and frontier regions of the North-East with key districts and urban centres in northern India.
