BJP’s Nayab Saini Triumphs in Haryana Floor Test After Khattar’s Resignation
Chandigarh, 13th March 2024: In a swift political development in Haryana, the newly appointed Chief Minister, Nayab Saini, successfully cleared a floor test aimed at establishing the BJP’s majority in the assembly following the dissolution of its alliance with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP.
Over the past 48 hours, Haryana witnessed a rapid change of government, with senior BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar and the entire cabinet, including three members from the JJP, resigning on Tuesday. The abrupt shift in government occurred due to the breakdown of the BJP-JJP alliance, which was formed after the 2019 Assembly election. In that election, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party but fell six seats short of securing an outright majority.
The resignation of Manohar Lal Khattar and the subsequent selection of Nayab Saini as the new chief minister marked a significant turn of events in Haryana’s political landscape.
