BJP MLA Under Fire After Vande Bharat Assault Video Goes Viral
Lucknow/Jhansi, 23rd June 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued show cause notices to Babina MLA Rajiv Pariksha and former Mathura district president Madhu Sharma over separate incidents of alleged indiscipline that have sparked controversy and drawn public criticism.
According to party sources, a video dated June 19 and widely circulated on social media shows several supporters of MLA Rajiv Pariksha assaulting a passenger aboard the Vande Bharat Express at Jhansi railway station. The train was en route from New Delhi to Bhopal. The passenger’s luggage was reportedly thrown near the gate, and MLA Pariksha was allegedly present during the incident.
The footage has raised serious concerns regarding passenger safety, especially in a high-security train like Vande Bharat. The BJP’s state general secretary and headquarters in-charge Govind Narayan Shukla issued a show cause notice to Pariksha, stating, “Your conduct, as seen in the video circulated on digital and mainstream media, has tarnished the image of the party and falls under the category of indiscipline. As per the instructions of the state president, you are directed to submit your explanation to the BJP state office within seven days. Failing to provide a satisfactory response will result in strict disciplinary action.”
In a separate case, Madhu Sharma, the former Mathura district president of the party, is facing disciplinary proceedings for publicly criticizing local MP Hema Malini during a protest by members of the Goswami community. Her remarks, deemed inappropriate by party leadership, were also captured in a video that went viral online.
Issuing a notice to Sharma, Shukla said, “A complaint has been received from the district organization, and your statements targeting a party MP have been noted. Such conduct is considered indiscipline and harms the party’s reputation. You are asked to submit your explanation to the BJP state office within seven days, or disciplinary action will follow.”
The twin notices come amid growing efforts by the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit to enforce discipline within the party ranks, especially ahead of upcoming local body elections and organizational revamps.
