PM Modi Has Phone Conversation With Russian President Vladimir Putin

Delhi, 16th December 2022: The war between Russia and Ukraine continues as Russia has started attacking Ukraine once again. Russia has fired more than 60 missiles into Ukraine. In the midst of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Reuters reported.

The PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) said that in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, PM Modi, in his talks with Russian President Putin, reiterated his call for dialogue and diplomacy to be taken forward. After their meeting on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand, the two leaders reviewed a range of aspects of bilateral ties, including energy cooperation, trade and investment, defence and security cooperation, and other areas.

According to the PMO, PM Modi briefed Putin about India’s current presidency of the G-20 and highlighted its key priorities. He also looked forward to the two countries working together during India’s presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. They agreed to be in regular contact with each other.

The last meeting between PM Modi and Russian President Putin was on the sidelines of the SCO summit on 16th September in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. There have been several telephonic conversations between the two leaders this year.
