National Conference And BJP May Form An Alliance For Upcoming Jammu & Kashmir Elections?

Jammu, 17th September 2022: The assembly elections are due in Jammu and Kashmir by the end of this year or early next year. Elections have not been held in the state since the end of Article 370.

Amidst this, there are reports about the alliance between the National Conference and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

On Friday, Omar Abdullah, reacting to a statement by the Jammu and Kashmir BJP state president, said, “Neither political opponents are enemies of each other nor politics is for division and hatred.”

His comments were analysed by people on Twitter. A user has termed this as a sign of a backdoor agreement between the National Conference (NC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a video, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina called Omar Abdullah a gem among the top political leaders of the union territory. Raina said, “When I became a member of the assembly along with Omar Abdullah, we saw as a human being that Omar Abdullah is a gem among the top political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir. So we are also friends.”

He said that Omar Abdullah was the first person to know his condition when he got infected with Corona. He called and inquired about his condition.

Responding to Raina’s tweet, Omar Abdullah said that politicians need not personally hate each other if they disagree politically. In a series of tweets, he said, “Why is politics about division and hatred? Where does politics say that we have to personally hate each other to disagree politically? I have political opponents, not my enemies.”

He said, “I am grateful for these words of Ravinder Raina. I am glad that these words will not stop us from opposing each other.”
