Maharashtra: Gram Panchayat in Parbhani District Offers Full Property Tax Waiver for ZP School Enrollments

Parbhani, 2nd May 2025: In a pioneering move to encourage higher enrollment at the local government school, the Gram Panchayat of Deulgaon Dudhate in Purna Taluka, Parbhani district, has announced a unique decision: families whose children enroll in the Zilla Parishad Central Primary School from Class 1 to 7 for the 2025-26 academic year will be granted a complete property tax waiver by the village administration.

Established a century ago, the Zilla Parishad School in Deulgaon Dudhate offers education from Class 1 to 7. Over the years, the school management committee and villagers have worked together to develop the institution through public participation. The Gram Panchayat administration has ensured that educational funds are utilized effectively, providing essential infrastructure and learning resources. The presence of expert teachers and the awareness among villagers have improved the quality of education, resulting in a gradual increase in student enrollment.

The school has implemented various programs to enhance student performance. To further boost admissions for the upcoming academic year, the Gram Panchayat has introduced this innovative policy. The decision to waive the entire property tax for families with children enrolled in the Zilla Parishad School is expected to significantly increase student numbers. The initiative has been commended by Sarpanch Lalitabai Uttamrao Kamble, Deputy Sarpanch Digambar Dudhate, Gram Vikas Adhikari Vishal Ambhore, and other members on behalf of the villagers.

Deulgaon Dudhate Zilla Parishad Central Primary School is recognized as a model school in the district. The Gram Panchayat has alternative sources of income, including weekly markets and commercial complexes, from which taxes are collected. Revenue from government grants, the Finance Commission, and other schemes, as well as taxes collected from other citizens, will be used for village development works.

“Our goal is to change the perception of Zilla Parishad schools. By offering a full tax waiver to families whose children enroll here, we hope to encourage more parents to choose government education,” said Sarpanch Lalitabai Uttamrao Kambale. This initiative marks a significant step towards community-driven educational development in rural Maharashtra.
