Railway News: Osmanabad Railway Station Officially Renamed as Dharashiv Railway Station
Dharashiv, 31st May 2025: In line with the Government of Maharashtra’s decision to rename Osmanabad city as Dharashiv, Indian Railways has officially changed the name of Osmanabad Railway Station to Dharashiv Railway Station. The change has been approved by the Indian Railways Conference Association.
The station, previously known by the name Osmanabad and station code UMD, will now operate under the new name Dharashiv, with an updated station code DRSV. The name will appear in all three official scripts as follows:
Marathi (Devanagari): धाराशिव
Hindi (Devanagari): धाराशिव
English (Roman): DHARASHIV
All official railway records, station signage, public announcements, and digital passenger information systems are being updated to reflect the change.
To implement this name change, the Mumbai Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will undergo a temporary shutdown for maintenance and updates. The system will be unavailable from 23:45 hrs on May 31, 2025, to 01:30 hrs on June 1, 2025, a total downtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes. This shutdown is necessary to ensure the updated station name and code are integrated into the national railway database.
Central Railways has requested all passengers and the general public to take note of the station name change and the scheduled PRS downtime. The updated name, Dharashiv Railway Station, is now officially in effect across all platforms and systems.
