Kejriwal Claims AAP Government Will Be Formed In Gujarat, Congress Reacts

Delhi, 3rd October 2022: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is going to be formed in Gujarat. He courted controversy on Sunday by saying that the ‘Intelligence Bureau Report’ states that if elections are held today, AAP will form the government in the state. The Congress has vehemently rejected this claim of the AAP convener.

Addressing a press conference in Rajkot, Kejriwal said, “According to sources, it has been said in the recent IB report that if assembly elections are held in Gujarat today, then the Aam Aadmi Party government will be formed in the state.” It has been said in the report that AAP will form the government with a small margin. “We are ahead of BJP with very few seats. The people are going to give a big blow to the Gujarat government.”

However, he appealed to the people to vote for AAP in large numbers, saying he wants a thumping majority in the elections. Kejriwal also claimed that since the report became available to the government, BJP and Congress have joined hands, and their group meetings are going on. He said that BJP is scared of the report, and leaders of both parties are accusing AAP in the same language.

Congress leaders reacted sharply to Kejriwal’s allegations against the party. Questioning the Delhi CM’s claim, Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said, “Everyone knows that Kejriwal is a liar. After his claim, the first question that arises is how did the IB report reach Kejriwal? If they have this report, then why did they make this confidential report public? Is not making the IB report public a breach of the oath of secrecy? Kejriwal is a former government official; he should know this.”

Demanding a probe into Kejriwal’s claims, Doshi said, “The matter should be probed, and he should apologize to the people of Gujarat for openly lying.” Kejriwal and Congress have been calling each other the ‘B’ team of BJP for a long time. According to Kejriwal, BJP wants Congress to be strong in the state so that anti-incumbency votes are divided, and hence it is trying to strengthen Congress. He also claimed that some Congress MLAs were about to join the BJP, but party leaders have asked them not to leave the Congress so that the BJP does not weaken further.
