IAMAI Applauds Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Efforts In Fostering Technological Collaborations With The US

New Delhi, 29th June 2023: The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating technological collaborations with the United States of America. IAMAI stated that these initiatives will generate unprecedented opportunities for the advancement of India’s technology sector and foster cooperation, partnerships, and investments.

According to IAMAI’s press statement, India’s technology sector has experienced significant growth under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to the unlocking of investment opportunities, the proliferation of startups, and the creation of jobs. The growth and development of the technology sector rely heavily on the proliferation of startups and job creation.

Startups play a crucial role in driving innovation, promoting entrepreneurship, and generating employment opportunities. The statement further emphasized that India has emerged as a global leader in creating digital public goods, which will unlock potential and drive the establishment of an inclusive digital economy.

In 2021, the Prime Minister announced that this decade would be “India’s Techade.” In line with this commitment, the public and private partnerships formed during the state visit are historic and groundbreaking, providing unparalleled impetus to India’s technological progress.

The recent visit has brought forth a plethora of prospects in several industries, encompassing defence, space exploration, semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence advancements, quantum computing breakthroughs, telecommunications innovations, and consular services. These sectors will play a crucial role in realizing India’s vision of achieving a 1 trillion-dollar digital economy.

According to Harsh Jain, the chairman of IAMAI, the establishment of an inclusive, easily accessible, and protected technological ecosystem will significantly augment the potential of India’s entire technology sector. This is not only a historic moment for attracting significant investments in technology but also an opportunity to develop Indian intellectual property in emerging technologies that will transform the entire ecosystem.”

Jain added, “IAMAI members will undoubtedly benefit from increased technology sharing, co-development, and co-production opportunities among industry, government, and academic institutions in India and the United States.”

Recently, Prime Minister Modi concluded his first state visit to the US, where he held extensive discussions with President Biden. He further delivered a speech before a joint session of the US Congress, marking a significant milestone as the first Indian leader to address them on two occasions.

During the visit, an impressive welcome ceremony was held on the South Lawns of the White House, attended by a record 7,000 people. A state dinner was also hosted, attended by approximately 500 individuals, along with a roundtable discussion involving technology company executives, entrepreneurs, officials, and CEOs.

Additionally, computer storage chip manufacturer Micron announced its plans to establish a semiconductor assembly and test plant in Gujarat, with a total investment of USD 2.75 billion (around Rs 22,540 crore). Furthermore, internet giant Google declared its intention to invest USD 10 billion in India’s digitization fund.
