Fadnavis slams Rahul Gandhi’s ignorance of history and Mahatma Gandhi’s role in Savarkar’s letter
Mumbai, 4th April 2023: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his statement regarding apologizing like Savarkar. Fadnavis clarified that Rahul Gandhi is not qualified to be compared to Savarkar as he is using a fake surname and is not a patriot. He further added that Rahul Gandhi does not know history and present.
Fadnavis also mentioned that Savarkar had written an apology letter to the British government in order to get rid of other political bans against him. However, Fadnavis explained that Savarkar knew that the British government would not forgive him and that he had written the letter for the sake of his fellow political prisoners. Mahatma Gandhi had instructed Savarkar’s brother to write such a letter and an article was also written about Savarkar apologizing.
Fadnavis went on to say that Uddhav Thackeray, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, had garlanded the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary, but none of the Gandhi family members had paid their respects to Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray on his birth anniversary.
Fadnavis criticized Rahul Gandhi for his lack of knowledge of history and current events and stated that he cannot become Savarkar. Fadnavis also highlighted the importance of paying respect to leaders regardless of political differences.
