Controversial ‘Hindu Jan Aakrosh’ Rally in Solapur Sparks Legal Action Against BJP MLAs and Sakal Hindu Samaj Leaders

Solapur, 8th January 2024: In the aftermath of the ‘Hindu Jan Aakrosh’ rally held in Solapur, BJP MLAs Nitesh Rane and T Raja Singh find themselves facing legal repercussions. The rally organized between Rajendra Chowk and Kanna Chowk, has stirred controversy due to alleged hate speech delivered by the two MLAs, prompting authorities to take action.

During the event, Nitesh Rane reportedly addressed sensitive topics such as ‘jihadis’ and the demolition of mosques, while T Raja Singh, a Goshamahal MLA from Hyderabad, is accused of making objectionable statements regarding ‘love jihad.’ The rally, which attracted leaders from the Sakal Hindu Samaj, an umbrella organization representing various groups, has resulted in an FIR implicating not only the BJP MLAs but also Sakal Hindu Samaj office bearers Sudhakar Mahadev Bahirwade and 8-10 others.

The charges filed against the individuals include sections of the Indian Penal Code such as 153A, which pertains to creating enmity between different religious groups, and 295A, which deals with acts intended to outrage religious feelings. The police official leading the investigation specified that these charges reflect the severity of the alleged hate speech and its potential to incite communal discord.
