Congress Focuses on Minority and Dalit Seats in New Strategy for Delhi Assembly Elections

Mumbai, 25th January 2025: The Congress party has developed a new strategy for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, focusing on seats dominated by minorities and Dalits, as per sources.

While the Aam Aadmi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party have been primarily engaged in a battle over Purvanchali voter support, Congress has decided to also target constituencies with significant minority and Dalit populations in its effort to stage a comeback.

The constituencies that will receive special attention from Congress include Okhla, Seelampur, Babarpur, Mustafabad, Matia Mahal, Ballimaran, Chandni Chowk, Kastubanagar, Badli, New Delhi, Nangloi Jat, Chhatarpur, and Patparganj.

Top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, are set to participate in roadshows and rallies in these areas during the final phase of the campaign.

To attract Purvanchali voters, a key demographic in these elections, the Congress announced plans on Friday to create a dedicated ministry and budget for the Purvanchali community in Delhi if the party wins power.

In addition, Congress has pledged financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month to women voters under the ‘Pyaari Didi Yojana,’ as part of its election manifesto.

The party has also promised a health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh to all Delhi residents through its ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana.’

Other promises include unemployment allowances, free ration kits, subsidized gas cylinders at Rs 500, and 300 units of free electricity.

Delhi’s 70-member Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with the results to be declared on February 8.
