Battle Of Elections Kicked Off In Gujarat

Gujarat, 3rd November 2022: The wait for the dates for the Gujarat Assembly elections is over now. The Election Commission announced the election dates for Gujarat on Thursday. The first round of voting will be held on 1st December and the second phase of voting will be held on 5th December. After this, the result of the election will come on 8th December.

The election results of Himachal Pradesh are also to be announced on the same day, where voting is going to be held in a single round on 12th November. In Gujarat, elections have been held in December since 2007, and there is a tradition of voting in two rounds. With the announcement of elections, the notification has come into force in Gujarat. Candidates can file nominations till 14th November and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is 17th November.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the term of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly is ending on 18th February, with about 100 days left. The electoral rolls were published in the state on 10th October 2022. This time 4.9 crore voters will cast their votes in the Gujarat elections. He said that the youth who turn 18 by 1st October 2022, are also allowed to vote. There are a total of 4.6 lakh voters who will exercise their franchise for the first time. A total of 51,782 centres will be set up for polling in the state. There will be a drinking water facility at the polling stations and a waiting area will also be created for the comfort of the elderly.

To improve the voter experience, 142 model polling stations will be set up in the state. Apart from this, 1,274 polling stations will be such where only women personnel and security personnel will be deployed. There will be some booths in every district where very young election workers will be deployed. We have taken this decision to encourage the youth to vote. There will also be a total of 182 special polling stations in the state for the differently-abled. At the same time, a polling station will be such, where there is only one voter, but a team of 15 personnel will also go for their vote. The elderly above 80 years of age and people with more than 40 percent disability will get the facility of voting through ballot paper from home. For this, they have to fill out Form 12D.

There are about 9.80 lakh voters in Gujarat who are above 80 years of age. Voters can lodge complaints on the cVigil app if they see any use of money power or muscle power. On complaint, the response will be given by the Election Commission within 100 minutes. If a candidate has a criminal background, the parties will have to explain why they like the candidate better. Apart from this, the candidate will have to publish information about himself in the regional and national level media.
