AAP Wins Delhi MCD Elections With Majority

Delhi, 7th December 2022: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has ended the 15-year rule of the BJP in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. The Aam Aadmi Party has emerged as the number one party in the civic polls. Meanwhile, the BJP is at number two, while the Congress is third. In the elections held on 250 wards of MCD, Aam Aadmi Party has crossed the majority mark with 134 seats. Whereas BJP has won 104 seats, Congress has nine seats, and independent candidates have won three seats.

After the victory of the Aam Aadmi Party in the municipal elections, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “Many thanks to the people of Delhi for this victory.” Kejriwal started his talk with Bharat Mata Ki Jai and said, “Congratulations to Delhi for such a grand victory. They have given the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation to their son. We will fix the municipal corporation, remove the problem of garbage, and remove corruption. Together with BJP and Congress, we will fix the Municipal Corporation. We also seek their cooperation. We also seek the cooperation of the Center and the Prime Minister. Together we will help Delhi.”

Meanwhile, the process of leaders reaching the Aam Aadmi Party’s headquarters has also started. AAP leader Dilip Pandey, who reached the party headquarters, said, “The people of Delhi have stated that they are with Kejriwal.”

On the victory in the MCD elections, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “Heartfelt gratitude to the people of Delhi for trusting the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi MCD. By defeating the world’s biggest and most negative party, the people of Delhi have made Arvind Kejriwal, who is staunchly honest and working hard, win. For us, it is not just a victory, it is a big responsibility.”

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that Kejriwal first uprooted the power of Congress from Delhi, and now he has uprooted the power of the BJP. BJP had fielded seven chief ministers in the MCD elections, but people do not want politics of hatred. He said that people want politics of schools, hospitals, electricity and cleanliness. Now, the mountains of garbage in Delhi will be cleaned.

Gopal Rai, a minister in the Delhi government, said, “If the BJP does not work, the public will elect Kejriwal. This decision has been taken by the people of Delhi. Congratulations to the people of Delhi for this.”

Even though AAP swept the MCD elections, BJP won three out of four wards in Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s assembly constituency. Not only this, BJP has won two out of four wards in Minister Gopal Rai’s assembly constituency, and Congress has won one.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has been occupied by the BJP for the last 15 years. This is the first election of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi after the new delimitation. Earlier, the Municipal Corporation of the capital was divided into three parts.
