Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Alloted 15-Acre Land In Wakad For Commissionerate Office
Pimpri Chinchwad, 1st March 2024: The government has approved the allocation of 15 acres of land in Wakad Peth No. 39 to accommodate the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC). This designated area will be utilized for the construction of the Police Commissioner’s office, additional offices, a drill ground, a playground, and residences.
To cater to Pimpri Chinchwad and its surrounding areas, a separate Police Commissionerate was established, including 9 Police Stations from the Pune Police Commissionerate and 5 from the Pune Rural limits. The Commissionerate commenced operations on August 15, 2018. However, the lack of suitable space has impeded the development of essential facilities such as the Police Commissioner’s Office, Police Headquarters, officers’ residences, parade ground, and playground.
The existing Police Commissioner’s office is currently operating on a leased space within the premises of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) school building. However, this location has proven insufficient for the expanding needs of the Police Commissionerate. Since assuming office, Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey has been consistently advocating at the government level for acquiring suitable land for the Police Commissionerate, with support from city representatives.
This pursuit has culminated in success, as the government has given the green light for the allocation of 15 acres of land at Wakad Peth No. 39, under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), at the prevailing commercial rates. Situated in Kalewadi Phata, this central location is deemed administratively convenient for citizens. Plans are underway to establish a fully equipped Police Commissioner’s office along with other necessary facilities at this new site.
