NCP’s Supriya Sule Addresses Concerns Over Seat-Sharing in INDIA Bloc for 2024 Elections

Mumbai, 1st January 2024: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule addressed concerns regarding seat-sharing within the INDIA bloc for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sule assured that discussions on this crucial matter were held in a recent meeting involving Sonia Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray, and Sharad Pawar. The detailed outcome of the meeting is set to be disclosed soon, eliminating any ambiguity within the alliance.

The clarification comes in the wake of direct criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sanjay Raut, who, claiming 23 seats, called for a fresh start for the Congress. Sule acknowledged that some fluctuations in seat-sharing were inevitable but stressed that it did not weaken the unity of the alliance.

Regarding the role of Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi President Prakash Ambedkar in the INDIA bloc, Sule affirmed his significant role in the alliance. Ambedkar’s proposal of a conflict-free solution with a formula of 12 seats for each party found support from Sule, who emphasized the alliance’s common goal of defeating Modi.

As discussions on seat-sharing within the MVA continued, Shiv Sena (UBT) demanded 23 out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. Sanjay Raut reiterated the need for the Congress to start afresh but clarified that it didn’t imply considering the Congress as zero. He predicted Maha Vikas Aghadi’s victory in around 40 seats, emphasizing the strength of the alliance.

In response to the ongoing discussions, the Congress acknowledged the complexity of seat-sharing and emphasized the need to avoid internal conflicts to secure victory against the BJP. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole assured that there are no differences within the Maha Vikas Aghadi over seat allocation. The primary criterion for ticket distribution in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections remains “winnability.”
