Shiv Sena Social Media Accounts And Website See Changes Following Election Commission Decision
Mumbai, 19th February 2023: The Central Election Commission gave the party name Shiv Sena and the party symbol, the bow and arrow, to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction. After this, political events gained momentum. Interestingly, Shiv Sena’s official Twitter handle (@ShivSena) has a blue tick, and when you click on this handle, the name Rock and Roll is visible. Two people are following this handle. On the other hand, ShivSena’s official website ShivSena.in has also been shut down. This has sparked discussions.
After the Election Commission gave Shiv Sena party name and party symbol to the Shinde group, the Thackeray group made major changes to their official social media account. As part of these changes, Shiv Sena’s official Twitter handle was renamed ShivSenaUBT_.
The handle Shivsena Communication has also been blue-ticked, and that handle has now been named ShivSenaUBT.
Not only this, but it seems that the Thackeray group has also taken a big decision regarding the website. Currently, it is seen that Shiv Sena’s website is closed. Therefore, it is clear that the Thackeray group will also change the name of the website in the future.
According to Twitter’s rules, any handle is ‘verified’ after certain checks and given a blue tick as part of it. After this, the Twitter account name can be changed by the respective account holder at any time. After this change, it does not affect the status of the blue tick. However, if the ‘handle name’ of a verified and blue ticked account is changed, Twitter removes the blue tick of the respective account. So the concerned person has to apply again to get the blue tick.
After the Commission’s decision, the Shiv Sena’s Thackeray group’s claim to the Shiv Sena name ended. So the Thackeray group changed their Twitter handle in this name to ‘Shiv Sena – Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray. Due to the change in Shiv Sena’s handle itself, this has been blue-ticked as per the rules of Twitter. So now the Thackeray group will have to apply for the blue tick once again.
