Pune: Parents And Caste Panchayat Members Booked For Selling Daughter For Rs 2000 For Begging In Viman Nagar And Kalyani Nagar

Pune, 14th September 2023: A shocking case has come to light where parents sold their daughter for begging for 2000 rupees as it was difficult for them to take care of her. The couple was supported by the panchayat of the caste panchayat.

A case has been registered in Yerwada police station against the parents of the victim girl along with 10 Panches of Maryai Devwale community.

According to the complaint filed by Shubham Shankar Lokhande, a lawyer, the girl’s mother Nilabai Anil Pawar, father Anil Hira Pawar along with Panchayat members Anil Jadhav, Lakshmi Anil Jadhav, Laxman Bhagwan Nimbalkar, Anna Balu Pawar, Rama Nimbalkar, Narayan Pawar, Balu Pawar, Marya Pawar, Pandaya Pawar, Anna Nimbalkar, Shetanna Pawar, Sonia Pawar, and Dhera Pawar have been named in the case. The police have arrested two persons named Anil Jadhav and Laxman Jadhav.

According to the police, Lokhande’s acquaintance had given him the information. A woman was seen begging with a four to five-year-old girl in Kalyaninagar, Vimannagar area for the past two months. This woman used to beat the girl if she did not get enough begging. Therefore, on getting more information about this, it was revealed that a couple in the city had six daughters and the couple from Pune had bought them for two thousand rupees with the consent of the caste panchayat members. It was learned that the caste panchayat had taken money to buy this girl. Four members of the community protested not to buy the girl. But the ten members of the panchayat did not listen to them. The caste panchayat assured that those who protested would be excluded from the caste and boycotted.

So after getting information about this, Lokhande rushed to the police and filed a complaint. Police are further investigating the case.
