Pune: NCP leader Jayant Patil visits Girish Bapat’s family, says no decision on by-election yet
Pune, 2nd April 2023: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Maharashtra State President Jayant Patil today visited the residence of late MP Girish Bapat to offer condolences to the family. When asked by journalists about the Lok Sabha by-elections due to Bapat’s passing, Patil stated that the party has not yet discussed or made any decisions regarding the election.
This statement came in response to Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar’s announcement of their eagerness to contest the by-election. Earlier, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Ajit Pawar, had criticized the rush to make political moves so soon after Bapat’s death.
Patil expressed respect for Bapat and confirmed that the NCP has not yet discussed any plans for the Pune Lok Sabha by-election. Patil also highlighted the NCP leader Sharad Pawar’s gesture of canceling all his programs to attend the funeral of Girish Bapat.
