Pune: Former Congress MLA Sanjay Jagtap Joins BJP in Presence of Maharashtra Party President
Saswad, 16th July 16 2025: In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming elections, former Congress MLA Sanjay Jagtap officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. The induction ceremony took place in Saswad in the presence of newly appointed BJP State President Ravindra Chavan.
Speculation around Jagtap’s shift to BJP had been circulating for several days. The former MLA from Purandar Haveli constituency was reportedly urged by ex-Congress corporators from Saswad and Jejuri to make the move, reflecting growing support for his entry among local leaders.
Jagtap’s defection is expected to deliver a major blow to the Congress party in the region, further strengthening BJP’s prospects as political alignments shift leading up to the elections. Local BJP leaders welcomed Jagtap and expressed confidence that his experience and following would boost the party’s performance in upcoming polls.
The Congress party has yet to officially comment on Jagtap’s exit.
