Political Parties Gear Up for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Speculation Surrounds PM Modi’s Candidacy in Pune

Pune, 1st September 2023: As anticipation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in India gains momentum, discussions have emerged about Prime Minister Narendra Modi possibly contesting from Pune.

Former BJP MP Sanjay Kakde has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi, urging him to consider Pune as his electoral constituency. In response, Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar has issued a challenge, stating that if Prime Minister Modi decides to run from Pune, he will face defeat.

In his letter, Sanjay Kakde highlighted the Prime Minister’s electoral successes in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP achieved a remarkable 90 to 100 percent success rate. Kakde expressed confidence that if Prime Minister Modi were to contest from Pune, the BJP would achieve similar success in the Maharashtra state. He underscored the appreciation of Pune’s citizens for the Prime Minister’s work, fueling the call for him to contest from the city.

This development has sparked political discussions and generated considerable interest.

Responding to the speculation, Ravindra Dhangekar extended a warm welcome to the idea of Prime Minister Modi running from Pune but voiced concerns about the country’s current political climate. He noted a perceived shift from democracy to dictatorship over the past nine years, citing rising inflation, agricultural challenges, and unemployment issues as key concerns faced by the nation.

Dhangekar emphasized that the decision regarding the Pune Lok Sabha constituency’s candidate would be determined during the ‘India’ alliance meeting. He pledged that if his party nominated him, he would honor that decision without wavering. However, he issued a direct challenge, confidently asserting that should Prime Minister Modi choose to contest the election in Pune, they would embrace his candidacy but remained resolute in their intent to secure victory.
