Opposition Leader Exposes Alleges Rs 8,000 Crore Ambulance Scam in Maharashtra

Pune, 13th January 2024: Vijay Wadettiwar, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, has raised serious allegations of a significant ambulance scam in the state.

During a press interaction in Pune, Wadettiwar claimed that a tender worth Rs 8,000 crores was awarded for 10 years for 108 ambulances, surpassing the norm of three-year tenders. The opposition leader accused a senior minister in the health department of being involved in the scandal, sparking widespread discussions about the minister’s identity and the veracity of the allegations.

Wadettiwar, in his interaction with the media, disclosed the details of the alleged scam, asserting that the tender, which should have been limited to Rs 4,000 crores at most, was unreasonably inflated to Rs 8,000 crores. He went on to claim that a high-ranking official in the health department coerced an IAS officer with threats of transfer to expedite the tender process within a mere seven days.

Expressing concern over the apparent favoritism in awarding the ambulance tender, Wadettiwar accused the Health Minister of pushing this deal to benefit a specific individual. The opposition leader contended that this maneuver was aimed at siphoning off Rs 4,000 crore rupees from public funds, thereby initiating what he described as looting people’s money. Wadettiwar painted a grim picture of the state’s health department, alleging widespread corruption within its ranks.

Wadettiwar did not stop at making allegations but pledged to take concrete steps. He intended to write to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers, urging them to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action against the ministers implicated in the scandal. The opposition leader emphasized the urgency of addressing the issue to prevent further damage to the state’s integrity.

As the state grapples with the aftermath of these explosive allegations, the demand for a comprehensive investigation into the ambulance tendering process and actions against the alleged wrongdoers has gained momentum. The unfolding developments have added a layer of complexity to the political landscape, placing the health department under scrutiny and demanding swift action from the government.
