Mumbai/Pune, 24th March 2023: MLA Siddharth Shirole spoke on the proposal presented by the ruling party in the budget session of the Legislative Assembly, discussing the challenges of providing basic facilities to the rapidly expanding Pune.
Shirole acknowledged the need for schemes such as Pune Metro, Smart City, River Improvement, Ring Road, 24/7 Water Supply Scheme, etc., which were implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from 2014. All these works are progressing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he said.
Shirole discussed the need for the completion of the flyover in Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk on the Hinjewadi – Shivajinagar metro line within one year using the latest technology, as the citizens are facing traffic jams due to the ongoing Metro work. He also emphasized the need for maximum funds from the government to make PMPML even more powerful and make it available to the people.
In the Budget Session 2022, Shirole raised the issue of water pollution in the rivers of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. He demanded that the local citizens should be removed from the watershed as soon as possible to improve the water quality in the rivers. Shirole also demanded funds from the government to rebuild the Pune Municipal Colony and Police Colony, which are in very bad condition.
Shirole spoke about the development plan for PMRDA prepared by the Singapore government under the leadership of the then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He said that if the work starts as soon as possible according to this plan, the development of Pune will be accelerated. He also suggested appointing Pune Municipal Corporation as a special planning authority to start the development of new 34 villages quickly.
