Maharashtra: Shelter Where Minor Girls Were Raped Had No Permission To Run Hostel

Nashik, 6th December 2022: According to senior authorities of the Women and Child Welfare Committee, the shelter home in Nashik where seven minor girls were allegedly raped by the owner, had no permission or authority to run a hostel.

Women and Child Welfare Minister Mangal Lodha had created a seven-member committee, including the deputy commissioner of the department, to investigate the matter.

The committee was tasked with, among other things, determining whether the shelter had the necessary permits and determining which kids needed care and protection.

It is now obvious, according to a top department officer, that the hostel lacked the necessary authorization to run a residential facility for kids. Furthermore, there was no adherence to standards for children’s safety. There were 14 boys and 13 girls staying in the hostel.

The official stated that the youngsters are now in the hands of the child welfare committee because the police are currently looking into the situation.
